Visit the Ballarat Aviation Museum

Ballarat Aviation Museum has a great collection of aircraft, engines. radios, cameras and aviation memorabilia.

Ballarat Aviation Museum is located at Ballarat airport which was a RAAF base during and after WW2, home for the No 1 Wireless and Gunners School (WAGS) and subsequent Radio school.

Our display of static aircraft includes a Wirraway, Dove, Flying Flea, Ligeti Stratos, Iskra cockpit section, a large model of the Spruce Goose and the first Australian registered gyro.

Other displays include Malkara and Ikara missiles, a Turana target drone and a Link trainer, the first of the ground flight simulators. A variety of aerial cameras and early aviation equipment.

A section is dedicated to the No.1 WAGS with aerial photos of the aerodrome, work and social activities and course graduation certificates.

We also have a large display of piston and early jet engines and numerous small model aircraft.

The museum adjoins a hangar which houses flying aircraft.

Our staff would be delighted to conduct a tour for you or feel free to browse.
